James served a mission to Scotland in 1991-93, qualified as an RE teacher in 1997 and taught in two large Manchester schools for twelve years including working as a Head of Dept, Faculty and AST. During that time he became involved in RE on a national scale and tried to raise the profile of the Church among RE teachers. For that last three years he has worked at the University of Chester as a Senior Lecturer in education. In this role he prepares and train secondary RE teachers, but also secondary teachers from different subjects, students on BEd Primary and Early years courses (as well as PGCEs in the same phase), and various Masters courses in education. He has a PhD in theology and has served in various capacities in the Church including as a Bishop, a counsellor on a Stake Presidency, and is currently Director of Public Affairs in his stake. Most importantly he is married with four gorgeous children.
